Hi,

I have had some reports that one of my apps doesn't work on the latest
MacOS Sierra. ( I don't have Sierra)

Do I need a certain version of XOJO/REAL Studio for apps to work on
Sierra?

Thanks

I think you we need a bit more information here. What doesn’t work? What error is received. There are differences in Sierra but just saying that it doesn’t work does not give us any clues.

They really didn't say, other than it froze up no error message and
had to force quit.

Is there a minimum version of XOJO/REAL Studio that should be used ?

I don’t think so really. Why don’t you look at the specs on the Xojo website to be sure?

There are definitely some things changed in Sierra, but I haven’t had any issues with locking up like you describe. What version Xojo was used for compiling?

I think you should consider upgrading your software. There’s a lot of improvements and changes since then.

Are you still compiling for Carbon? That would explain a LOT!

Oh yeah. It sure would. If he’s using RS 2010r3.1, he has to be using Carbon. Cocoa wasn’t available until much later. I think you need to move to Xojo to get Cocoa or at least like the last version of RS.

2010 R3.1 is 7 years ago. That’s ancient in terms of software development.

I have an old RS2012r2 that has two options for Mac: "Carbon" or "Cocoa
- Beta"
Plus, after you get used to it, the Xojo interface is really a lot nicer
IMHO.

There is an option to build for cocoa in 2010r3.1 but its BETA .

Its on my list. If things work out I'll be able to do some much needed
upgrades this year.

You'll definitely need to do that if you want to support 10.13. Also, it's a very good idea to be looking at shifting to 64bit.

I'm using RS 2010 r3.1 too.
And FYI, my app (carbon) seems to work without any problem on Mac OS 10.12.
