The problem occurs when I receive a French email (from nug.fr), such as:
car l?immobilisme de Xojo devant les demandes utilisateurs, alors que
l?on paye, ?a ?nerve carr?ment?C'est certainement du ? la volont? de
travailler sur trop de front ? la
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I use British language with Eudora as mail system on a MacBook (OSX
10.6.8) and Mail on an iMac (OSX 10.10.5). The problem is the same in
both cases. Changing British language to French does not change the
problem. Copying the text to Word (which is a multilingual
application) does not help either.

You say that it is a matter of encoding ... so what? I do not know
how to transform this comment into an action.

Yes it its. This is an encoding problem: they do not use the correct one when they sent the messags.

I asked about that many years ago ad “nothing’s gonna change my world”…
